Health Benefits of Masturbation

Ok, we've all wondered whether Male or Female Masturbation is a healthy pastime or not, so we'll attempt to answer the question here....
A few of our readers have left me a note asking about the above so we've put together the following discussion about one of the least talked about subjects that is a regular pastime for the majority of men and most women too. We won't go into the different male/female masturbation techniques as these are extremely wide and varied, that's a whole other article in itself.

Masturbation the Facts

Statistics indicate that around 94% of men and 89% of women have or are still masturbating on a regular basis, and yet the word still creates an uncomfortable feeling even in the 21st Century. The practice is often frowned upon in certain circles, and there are those who still try to educate our youth of the potential sinful and dangerous nature of the act. This is quite obviously unfounded and in fact there is more and more research which proves that masturbation can produce many health benefits in males, females young and old.

Arguably the greatest health benefit of masturbation is that it feels good. This is because the heightened sexual stimulation and subsequent orgasm causes a flood of endorphins to be released throughout the body. These are the feel good chemicals that are produced after extreme periods of exertion or in this case the orgasmic release created through masturbation. Any for of sexual activity and physical exercise are by far the best ways to kick off the release of endorphins, and combining the two is obviously the way to reach maximum production of these naturally occurring chemicals in the body. When there is no partner available then masturbation is a good substitute as it can improve the mood and open the door to the release of endorphins. Its thought the act can also improve sleep by causing a state of relaxation, and in women it can even relieve menstruation cramps and tension.

As humans, we do not follow the 'on heat' cycles that other animals do (though women do have periods of hieghtened sexual desire on specific days in the hormone cycle), so from early teens we tend to have a huge amount of sexual energy or desire which is crying out to be released. The best way for this release to occur is through the natural process of masturbation, there really is little alternative when no opposite sexual partner exists. The orgasm that comes with masturbating is a great releaser of sexual tension and even frustration. It is a very safe, controlled release, where the individual can take his or her time, using whatever masturbation technique they wish to achieve an exhilarating climax, a great way to end a busy or stressful day !

This kind of relaxation is a welcome release that many stressed-out individuals around the world could surely benefit from.
