What causes Allergies ?
Allergies are seen year around by people of all ages and have no regard to class. As a matter of fact, nearly 40 million Americans suffer from seasonal allergies of one kind or another.
Allergies can be caused by many different things such as molds, dust, pollen, cats, dogs, feathers, foods, including wheat, peanuts and dairy products, and occasionally some medications. You can also have allergic reactions to insect bites, jewelry, cosmetics, and many other substances. If you are not sure if you have allergies, here are a few signs and symptoms:
breathing problems, sneezing, itching, watery eyes, headaches, coughing, wheezing, vomiting, hives, nausea, sinusitis and general fatigue. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms then you should first of all pay a visit to your doctor. You doctor can perform tests to see what you are allergic to and then be prescribe a medication to help deal with whatever your allergic symptoms may be.
You can also obtain over the counter medicines for allergies at our local drug store or pharmacy to help deal with allergies. In addition, you can try to avoid whatever is triggering your allergies. It may be hard to avoid such things like pollen and dust because of the fact these can be found everywhere. It is advisable to make sure you have your medication with you at all times just in case you experience an allergic reaction while you are out and about, as severe allergic reactions can require hospital treatment.
At the moment there does not appear to be any real 'cure' for allergies, though there have been some successes with alternative therapies such as Health Kinesiology in addressing the underlying causes of the allergy. Many people however, do seem to keep their allergies under control with medication. You can discuss with your doctor the various treatments available in order to receive some relief from symptoms and reduce your exposure.
There are a number of ways of treating your allergies, for example antihistamines, which can be a short-term cure to help relieve your symptoms or longer lasting medication to help keep your allergies under control.
